SomaGenics to present at the 12th annual Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society (OTS) meeting

Santa Cruz, CA, September 2016- SomaGenics will present recent progress in its RNA detection and sshRNA therapeutics programs in two posters at the OTS Annual Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, September 25-28, 2016.

On September 26th, Dr. Anne Dallas will present a poster detailing the ability of SomaGenics’ miR-ID® qPCR method to distinguish microRNA isoforms and isomiRs quantitatively.  Results confirm that miR-ID® can discriminate miRNA isoforms with single nucleotide differences at any position along the molecule as well as additions (templated and non-templated) and deletions at both the 5’- and 3’-ends, while maintaining high sensitivity.

On September 27th, Dr. Dallas’ poster presentation will report results from a collaboration with LayerBio Inc. and Dr. Gurtner (Stanford University), demonstrating the ability of SomaGenics’ sshRNAs (short synthetic hairpin RNAs) technology to accelerate wound healing in diabetic mice.  Further, Somagenics identified a highly potent sshRNA that inhibits expression of PHD2, a crucial regulator of the hypoxia-induced factor HIF-1-alpha, and formulated it successfully for local delivery using the layer-by-layer technology of LayerBio, Inc.
